The Noise Pollution Unit at the morning feeding trough was set to Rock Anthems (Instrumental Cover Versions) – Playback Level @ Attack! Destroy! Pummel The Innocent Face-Feeders!

And astonishingly loud, loud enough even to astonish these well travelled, much assaulted and insulted, windows on the world of sound. I asked a female lady serving person if the music might be quieter. She turned it up. I then asked a male serving person to turn it down. He did, and the amplitude shift was dramatic: from assaulting and reverberating the wall panels, in which the large speakers were set, to merely visceral irritant: too quiet to hear, too loud to ignore. But low enough that bass frequencies from anthemic-rock-a-pop no longer penetrated the noise cancellators and Grumpy Ludwig’s String Quartets of wonderment and delight.

Churchscapes funding:: Posted by davidfsnyder on June 20, 2006
Obviously the recent Churchscapes tour was a labour of love, and I can only regret that I was unable to attend any. But I am interested to hear the practical matter of how the costs were met, considering especially that this tour was conducted out of the marketplace (thank you!). Were there sponsors to cover room and board, equipment and personnel transport, etc.? DGM? Robert’s personal funds?

The latter; i.e. Robert sponsors himself.

Usually, the Church of England is very happy to allow its churches being used for “artistic” and cultural presentations, in addition to local events (as at Sutton). This in distinction to Roman Catholic and Orthodox Churches that, usually, reserve their places of worship for acts of (conventionally defined) acts of worship in each particular tradition. I am unfamiliar with the policies of American Churches, so am unable to comment in that respect.

22.58 Hernan and Martin spent the day presenting an Intro To NST at the Centrottava music school before bringing the Team to the presentation room, part of a local church but not within the worshipping body of the building.

LCG Soundcheck I…

II…

A small, informal audience of (mainly) those connected with the Centrottava music school, which generously allowed us to use its facilities for rehearsals; and some Guitar Craft family and friends.

My monitors were louder than the PA system, which gave me technical problems. These I passed along to Sylvain at FOH (ups and downs in level). I work to what I hear. The Performance Presentation was followed by Q&A, with some good questions.

Now back to the hotel and packing for tomorrow’s journey to Reggio Emilio.
